If you’re looking for a 2025 getaway with a difference, you might consider a UK wellbeing retreat. From calming spas and yoga classes to activity retreats comprising nature walks and wild swimming, there are plenty of ways to staycation in style, while looking after number one.

Keep reading for just five mindful getaways incorporating relaxation, ancient Chinese practices, and lessons in embracing the art of silence.

1. Mind Over Mountains, the Peak District

Mind Over Mountains is a charity that provides several types of wellbeing adventures.

A hill walking day allows you to get out into nature, surrounded by the stunning scenery of the Peak District, as you enjoy some mindful exercise. Expect regular mindfulness stops for meditation and one-on-one chats with the charity’s expert counsellors who’ll walk alongside you.

Wellbeing retreats, meanwhile, generally take place over weekends with two days of walking and dormitory accommodation, with catch-up sessions for reflection and other mental health exercises.

Retreats take place throughout the year but a two-night stay in Dovedale in March will set you back around £360, although bursaries are available.

2. Wonderful Escapes, Monmouthshire

This mountain retreat is nestled at the base of Skirrid Mountain just outside Abergavenny.

A 16th-century farm now houses a swimming pond, sauna, and a wide range of mindfulness classes.

You can book an organised wellbeing break with its own itinerary or tailor your stay to suit you. Book dinner, bed and breakfast and then simply pick and choose your activities. And there’s plenty to choose from.

From yin and yang yoga to drumming workshops and gong baths, as well as regular nature and foraging walks, you’ll be free to do as much or as little as you please.

The dinner, bed and breakfast option starts from around £139 for one person, staying midweek.

3. Wellbeing on the Farm, Sussex

Within the South Downs national park, you’ll find Westerlands.

Incorporating a WildSpa, sauna, and an outdoor WildFit gym, you’ll find plenty to occupy your body and mind. Classes and sessions include massages, reiki, boxercise, and yoga with a range of accommodation options.

You can opt for a reasonably priced cabin, hut, barn or cottage and then pick the wellbeing pursuits that most interest you.

For horse lovers, the stables provide riding sessions and workshops in “equestrian wellness”, which use the horses as a type of healing therapy.

4. Reclaim Yourself, near Bath

Reclaim Yourself offers global retreats as far afield as Switzerland, Japan, and Bhutan but for a summer staycation you need only travel as far as Bath.

The scheduled yoga retreat incorporates five yoga classes with time in-between to practice mindful walking or wild swimming. If the lake isn’t to your taste, there’s a sauna too and a campfire to dry off around as the evening approaches.

You can opt to stay in any one of the retreat’s glamping accommodation options. Cabins, yurts, and shepherd’s huts all include warm showers, a wood-burning stove, and compost toilets, while meals are communal and prepared in the retreat’s outdoor kitchen.

A three-night retreat in July will cost between £450 and £995.

5. The Tree, Rosedale, North Yorkshire

The Tree Relaxation Retreat in the North York Moors offers a wide variety of retreat types, including “daycation” mindfulness and yoga workshops for those living in the north-east. Encouraging you to deepen your connection with nature, you’ll be guided in mindfulness meditation and relaxation, suitable for all experience levels.

Sessions include hatha yoga, the ancient Chinese practice of Qigong, and yoga nidra and gong relaxation. A day of ultimate relaxation will set you back around £85.

For a longer staycation experience, several types of weekend and longer breaks are available, such as a five-day silent retreat. All talk ceases at 10 pm on day one and four days of complete silence follow. Enjoy 5 am meditations, a silent walk on the moors to better convene with nature, and vegetarian meals eaten in “golden silence”.

Silent retreats start at £525 in the Old Chapel, based on two people in a twin room. A £150 single-person supplement applies.
